The Tudor House Museum, SouthamptonThe Tudor House is arguably Southampton's most important historic building. It is an impressive timber-framed house built at the end of the 15th Century by Sir John Dawtrey. Areas of the house date back as far as the 12th Century. The house was renovated with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Southampton City Council, at a cost of over £5million. The requirement from English Heritage and the contractors was to sympathetically sand and clean the floorboards of rooms throughout the museum. We hand- finished more than 500square metres of floor in a hardwax oil to give them a more traditional finish.
Broadlands, RomseyBroadlands is an elegant grey brick Palladian mansion set in beautiful landscaped gardens on the banks of the River Test. The house is most well known for its association with Lord Mountbatten, the great-grandson of Queen Victoria. Lord Mountbatten's wife, Edwina Ashley, inherited the house through her grandfather. The house is currently owned and occupied by Lady Brabourne. Extensive refurbishment works were started in 2010 and Winchester Floor Sanding was invited to quote for the restoration of many of the floors. We worked with the Royal interior designers to achieve a finish that would complement the age and beauty of the building. It was a privilege to be working on such a stunning restoration.
